A birthday remembrance for Bel

Isabel saw women's rights as a fundamental human rights issue. As a sociologist, she became aware of traditional practices, such as female genital mutilation. These practices are abhorrent, but what to do about it? It was a cause of great personal concern for her. Bel would surely be involved in the ongoing efforts in the US and abroad to focus attention on human rights violations against women, were she here today.

In honor of Isabel on her birthday, a number of resources have been gathered here to assist those who want to learn more. Bel would urge us all to continue the effort.
